Graces Adventures X Hipcamp
The outdoors is my absolute passion, I spend every single weekend and even some week days on adventures in the mountains or hills or by the coast doing hiking, swimming, climbing, exploring, paddleboarding and kayaking. You name it, if it’s outdoorsy I do it. I also love documenting my adventures via photos and videos and I share these with my 40k followers on Instagram and also to my 26k subscribers on YouTube as well as my website blog. I do many of my adventures solo and I’ve camped alone on mountains and in vans and bothys and campsites so I’m very content and confident in my own company for long periods of time. I love encouraging people to get into the outdoors and this job would encompass my passions and skills all in one and is exactly what I’d like to do long term so it would be the perfect step into building my outdoorsy career.
We Are Wandering Travel X Hipcamp - GET WILD
As avid adventurers, we love a challenge and being pushed outside of our comfort zones. We love exploring nature, getting lost and getting wild. And we try and encourage others to do the same. After travelling the world, living/working on a campsite in New Zealand and building x2 campervans we have now spent a lot of time exploring the UK, hopping from freedom camps to quirky campsites and one day would love to create our own off-grid campsite here in the UK... or maybe somewhere tropical! We feel that is literally THE BEST SUMMER JOB EVER! And feel that it is the perfect job for us, with us both being photographers and filmakers, content creators and using our platform to encourage others to get back to nature, we feel we'd be able to really showcase the best of British campsites and glamping sites in a fun, quirky and authentic way.
Helen, James & Dougie Best UK Summer Job Pitch
We (Helen & James) are a couple in our late 20s, who love travelling around in our self-converted camper van with our dog, Dougie. During 2020 we finally had the time to start our dream project of a van conversion (an old LDV Maxus minibus) which we named Max and we have already had some amazing adventures. Although we do not have a large social media presence, we have a lot of creative skills, know-how and a whole load of ideas to bring to the table. Helen has a background in archaeology and heritage and loves learning about new places and their history. She is also a qualified drone operator and is always crafting and designing something! I (James) have freelanced for the past 6 years in video marketing and have been working behind the scenes to produce video content for events, brands and influencers globally and would really love to share our own adventures! This opportunity would be perfect for us to showcase the lifestyle we love and hopefully inspire people to try new things, find their perfect life balance and see some amazing places here in the UK. We can create story-focused video content with drone footage, Dougie GoPro cam and photography of everywhere we visit, as well as unique sticker designs for every place (we add a sticker to the back of Max from all our trips). We would love to also write a blog of the history, places to see and dog friendly spots in each location. We hope that you will consider us and we would love to meet all the like-minded Hipcamp community as we travel around the UK :)
@viviandbecky - the British great outdoors with Hipcamp
Hello! We are @viviandbecky and we have been together for 9 years. We met online when we were in opposite sides of the world studying, so traveling became our way of being able to be together! We live in an old police van that we converted into our home, and our goal is to travel to every country in Europe with it and hike the highest mountains! We love getting off of the main path and inspiring people to spend time outdoors, especially in the own countries. We spent 3 months traveling around the UK last year, right after the covid restrictions started to be lifted, and at that time campsites were still closed, so we never got to experience one campsite in our entire trip around the UK! We would love to have this opportunity to showcase what the UK has to offer and experience our favourite country in a whole different way this time.
Hi I’m Emma did I mention I’m walking around the coast of Britain?
Hold your applause, I’m almost halfway around but still have a way to go. One day I was bored at work and fancied an adventure and thought you know what, I could walk around the coast of Britain that seems doable. And if I stick to the coastline I won’t even need to learn how to use a compass, I just need to keep the sea on my left. So I bought a tent and set off. It’s been bloody incredible. I’ve seen seals, dolphins, and seagulls swooping down and stealing sandwiches straight out of the hands of bewildered tourists. I’ve been absolutely bowled over by the kindness of complete strangers and have become the biggest advocate for spending more time out in nature, patting cows on the head, chowing down on wild garlic, and the like. I’ve been blogging and doing Instagram stories of my adventures and people have said really lovely things about them being the highlight of their day. I would love the chance to share and blog about slightly more glamorous camping spots and meals because I don’t think videos of slugs crawling up my tent pitched in a bog and endless tins of baked beans are necessarily going to sway people into spending more time outdoors. I’d love for more people to try camping or glamping or even hanging out in a treehouse. Spending some time in nature is such a mental and physical boost and I’d love to share that experience. Plus I think I deserve a holiday. My legs hurt. Coincidentally mylegshurt.co.uk is the name of my blog. Have a cheeky gander if you feel so inclined. Lots of love, Emma xx
Lizzi for Hipcamp's Best UK Summer Job
Camping holidays have been the only holidays I've known for most of my life, I didn’t go abroad until age 16, so the ‘staycation’ is something I’ve grown up to really cherish! Being in the great outdoors brings fantastic nostalgia, it reminds me to stay playful and has such a positive impact on my mental health. I fully believe that being amongst nature brings out the best in me, helping me to refresh and recharge, and I’d love to encourage and help guide other people to give it a go for themselves! Trained in Graphic Communications, I have developed skills in design, photography, layout, and copywriting, and although I couldn’t see myself going into a commercial desk job, my dreams lie in being able to combine this creative mind and skillset with an existing passion: for adventure! Documenting holidays with photos and videos comes naturally to me, the little adventure clips in my video are some that I filmed for social media over the trip. I Hope they give you a good impression of my enthusiasm and energy! I believe that it’s kindness, and thoughtful recommendations (sharing the love!) that make the world feel like such a wonderful place to be. I get such a warm-heart feeling by being helpful to others, I find strength in planning, organising and dedication, and my passions lie in being active and in the fresh air– rain or shine! Soaking up an amazing view and saying w-o-w is where you’ll find me.
Felix The Cat - Hipcamp's Best UK Summer Job!
Who wouldn't be! What a fantastic experience. Camping and the great outdoors are such huge passions for me and a job like this has been a lifelong dream of mine. I love travel and exploring and I genuinely believe that the UK has so much to offer in that sense. As a campervan builder and avid camper, I really appreciate unique spaces - whether it be a basic off-grid campsite or the most extravagant glamping facility! I’m Felix (yes, like the cat!), an outdoor dwelling creature that feeds on adventure and adrenaline. I am a hunter gatherer of the ever illusive natural light and I will go to the extremes to find it. I always assume perfection is achievable and will twist it out of every capture. I pursue wilderness, cursed by the lure of white horses and the magnificent primeval, every eminence and severance, the great outdoors is my calling… I love content creating and I use my photography and videography skills to really enhance the story I portray in my work. They’re both such powerful tools for engagement and I really enjoy bringing it all together. Another huge part of camping for me is the people. Meeting new and likeminded people has always been a big enjoyment and this really does sound like the perfect way! Camping and the outdoors just seems to open up this wonderful door for strangers alike to meet, and share an instant connection. Thanks for watching / reading and please vote for me! I promise you won’t regret it!
Mum Sara from Northern Ireland
Hi, I'm am interested in taking part for the full experience. I have always loved the outdoors and camping is a yearly thing for my family. As mentioned in my video, I own a business that revolves around glamping so that just shows how much I love it. I've never camped in the mainland before so would love that opportunity.
Let the adventure begin…..
Hello, let us introduce ourselves. We are the Davis family from North Wales, Dan, Annie, Ayla and Boe. 6 years ago we converted an army truck into a rather large camper (affectionately known as Daffy)🙃, with a dream to do lots of travelling to places far and wide …….. The arrival of our two little beauties Ayla & Boe, along with a few unexpected lockdowns has meant that like everyone else, our dreams had to be postponed for a little while! However, we’re finally getting there, and the adventures have begun! This summer job would be the absolute dream of an opportunity to put Daffy to use, to spend some quality family time together before both girls start school in September, to build memories as a family and to show our girls the world from the great outdoors. Let the adventure begin…
I HATE camping. Change my mind
I LOVE travelling. I HATE camping. I would LOVE for you to change my mind. I have camped, mostly at festivals, and have been pretty unlucky. We’re talking FLOODS, FREEZING TEMPERATURES, FOOD POISONING and FIRES level of unlucky. (These all genuinely happened: my tent really did burn down at Glastonbury; no, I wasn’t in it at the time.) It’s fair to say I’ve largely steered away from camping since then. And, honestly, I’m a city person. I live in Birmingham; pre-pandemic, I was a digital nomad – I’m a freelance writer and have set up my laptop in Tokyo, Vancouver, Shanghai, New York, Paris… I love architecture, I love the buzz of a crowd, I love the history baked into the bricks of a building, the story of a place that you can somehow feel. My Instagram (@house_of_cartophilia) is full of maps, cityscapes, architectural prints, and pictures of my own little maximalist house. So why would I apply for Hipcamp’s Best UK Summer Job? Because if the last two and a half years has taught me anything it’s that we should all be looking for adventures. There is joy and excitement everywhere, and it might not be where you expect to find it. It might be far outside your comfort zone. It might be just around the corner. If you choose me, you’ll explore camping and glamping with me, a newbie, someone who wouldn’t have considered it a few years ago. You’ll see it through fresh eyes. And I promise I will TRY to love it. And if I still hate camping, that’ll be entertaining to watch too. Win-win. Thanks for reading. And have a fabulous summer, wherever you spend it. Morwenna xoxo
